The NCAA is still trying to figure out exactly how to deal with for-profit schools like Phoenix-based Grand Canyon University.

The Pac-12 conference didn't like the idea of competing on a field or a court with a university that had shareholders.

The NCAA seems to have split the difference by giving for-profit schools a seat at the table and the chance to compete for championships with its non-profit fellow institutions of higher learning. But a little bit is missing.
